IGEL’s Carl Gersh Recognized as One of CRN’s 100 People You Don’t Know But Should

A proven track record for executing on comprehensive channel marketing strategies that support business goals and objectives of IGEL and its channel partners earns Gersh a spot on the 2021 list

SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 27, 2021 – IGEL, provider of the next-gen edge OS for cloud workspaces, today announced that CRN®, a brand of The Channel Company, has named Carl Gersh, Vice President, North America Marketing, as one of the IT channel’s 100 People You Don’t Know But Should for 2021. Published annually, the list honors the people working tirelessly behind the scenes to support not only their partners, but also the broader channel ecosystem.

The CRN editorial team compiles the 100 People You Don’t Know But Should list to bring well-deserved attention to the best and brightest who may not be as visible or well-known as some channel executives, but whose roles are just as important. The selections are based on feedback from leading solution providers and industry executives.

Carl joined IGEL in January 2020 as Senior Director of Marketing, and was promoted to Vice President of Marketing, North America, in June 2021. During his tenure with IGEL, Carl has led his team in developing a series of campaigns including “Made in the Shade”, a CxO meeting maker program, and “All Gain. No Pain” (https://en-staging.igel.com/allgaincampaign/) a fitness-related giveaway that launched in summer 2021. These programs are designed to enable channel partners to help their customers thrive in the today’s remote work and work-from-anywhere (WFx) environments using IGEL’s next-gen edge OS for cloud workspaces. Carl has also brought new life to IGEL’s online events and webinars through his alter-ego in the “DJ_Gersh and KimmyIQ” duo who have proven popular hosting “The Knowledge Base Trivia Show”, plus other music and virtual happy hours designed to engage and entertain the IGEL community.

During a career in the IT channel spanning 25 years, Carl has worked at all levels – starting in 1994 at GBC Technologies, an enterprise technology distributor, then moving on to IT Channel-related start-ups, including leading business development for CertificationNet, which was one of the first e-learning start-ups to deliver authorized vendor training online (and powered the Training tab of ChannelWeb, a CRN property). From there, he held multiple positions in consulting, value added reselling, and manufacturing, including leading Southeast-region marketing for Citrix, and running sales and marketing for Forthright Technology Partners.

“Carl is a talented, results-producing marketing professional with a proven record of accomplishment in planning and leading comprehensive channel marketing strategies to support business goals and objectives,” said Simon Townsend, Chief Marketing Officer, IGEL. “We are proud to see him recognized for his many contributions and efforts toward driving success for IGEL and our channel partners.”

“There are truly talented folks who make game-changing, creative, and strategic decisions every day behind the scenes,” said Blaine Raddon, CEO of The Channel Company. “With the 100 People You Don’t Know But Should, we are excited to shine a light on this exceptional group and honor them for their remarkably important work on behalf of their partners and their contributions to the IT channel at large.”

The 100 People You Don’t Know But Should will be featured in the October issue of CRN Magazine and can be found online at www.crn.com/100people.
