NVIDIA + Citrix + IGEL = Support for Unified Communications in VDI

Unified communications is top of mind for nearly every customer I visit, it’s one of two key applications that just have to “sing” when you deliver a desktop virtually. (The other is Office).  For performance reasons, you need to supercharge the VDI session with some enhanced graphics capabilities, hence my attendance at NVIDIA GTC event this week.

How to make Skype for Business really “smooth” will be the focus of my upcoming presentation during NVIDIA GTC 2019. The session, Leveraging NVIDIA, Citrix and IGEL to Support Unified Communicationsin VDI,to be held on Thursday, March 21 at 11:00 a.m., will share how organizations can achieve the workstation performance levels that users today demand.

Performance to Improve Unified Communications

With NVIDIA in the data center running VDI, with various Windows OSs, and IGEL OS at the endpoint, organizations can support key unified communications applications – like Skype for Business – for improved communication and collaboration across geographically dispersed working environments. We’ll be demonstrating the impact of a graphics acceleration card on overall performance, you don’t want to miss this!

For example, Whitney, Bailey, Cox and Magnani (WBCM) when conducting their Citrix VDI proof-of-concept put unified communications and collaboration (UCC) among its top requirements.  While trialing endpoint solutions from IGEL using Skype for Business optimization packs for Citrix, WBCM was impressed: performance was superb, as was the cost savings.

As a result of their deployment of IGEL, Citrix and NVIDIA, WBCM realized the following benefits:

  • Ease of management and configuration
  • Improved resource allocation
  • Significant cost savings

To witness great graphic performance for Unified Communications (Skype for Business) in a VDI environment join Jeff Kalberg, North America Technology Evangelist at IGEL and me during NVIDIA GTC 2019; and see how NVIDIA, Citrix and IGEL are a great combination for improving communication and collaboration between your end users.
